Places Around the South Side -- for the South Side Planning Forum

There are many facilities on the map. Some have been closed for years, others closed recently, others are yet to close. Still others are open to some and closed to others. All in all, there are many places and many opportunities. Most of all, our opportunities are not reaching near the potential. Our kids and our community suffers.

Past efforts such as the Field Study, Aquatics Master Plan and Master Plans for the RAD Parks -- are failures.

Buck Up: Block Parties Kick Off Summer. We're on our own

Concept: Let's instigate 100 Block Parties around the city for the start of the summer to either celebrate the re-opening of the swim pools or rec centers, or else figure out ways to survive the summer without these assets.

Optimist Heritage Cycle Ride

Kids and adults enjoy bikes along the Heritage river trails downtown Sunday, October 19th in a 15-mile ride along the rivers. Mostly flat and with rest stops, registration for adults is $20 and children under 18 cost $0. This will be a fun event and since it's not a race, you can start anytime from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Riverfront and the Optimist Club.
